Rhiana and Doug

Rain rain go away! For everyone that starts looking at the weather report a week or ten days before your wedding day …. don’t do it! Rhiana and Doug had an amazing day, and it wasn’t just because it was their wedding day, but the weather was awesome! And I know when Rhiana and I talked before her wedding we were both concerned because the weather report was calling for rain all day, 90% chance from morning to night. She, I know was concerned about where we could get portraits, she purchased umbrellas for her and Doug as well as the rest of the bridal party, so that we could still do some fun creative portraits in the rain.

Rhiana and the girls got ready at the Baltimore Hyatt Regency downtown while the guys got ready at their newly finished row home in Federal Hill. I got to hang out with the ladies, while Jen covered the guys. Their ceremony was at St. Ignatius Church in Mount Vernon, we then went to Mount Vernon to do some outdoor photos of the bridal party and Rhiana and Doug - it was almost HOT! no rain in sight! Then back to the Baltimore Hyatt Regency for cocktail hour and the reception.

Rhiana and Doug, thank you so much for allowing Jen and I to be part of your day, we had a blast, especially seeing all the guys break it out on the dance floor! Hope you’re having a great time in St. Lucia - bring some of that warm weather here!

Spring has sprung!

In case anyone was unsure, it’s official. Spring is here, and I took a personal day off yesterday to go enjoy it! Kristy and I took the dogs to my favorite secret place, you ready? I’m going to share it, but it’s a secret, so don’t tell anyone about it …. Cylburn Mansion. I really don’t know why more people don’t know about this place, it’s got to be the best kept secret in Baltimore. I’ve done a few engagement portraits here, and taken the dogs many times to walk the trails around the grounds. It’s incredibly dog friendly, quiet, and an all around great place to go and decompress for a few hours. Well, I want to offer some proof that spring is here, if you haven’t noticed the forsythia in bloom all around town, or the daffodils on the side of the highways, here’s some beautiful magnolias to drive the point home. I can’t wait until my wisteria starts blooming so it stops looking like a dead twig in the front of my yard!

Katie and Aaron - March 29th, 2008

What a great way to start the wedding season!

Katie and Aaron were married and held their reception at Ceresville Mansion in Frederick, MD. Katie was seemed a bit nervous throughout the day leading up to the ceremony, but Aaron and the guys seemed as relaxed as if they were about to skate out onto the ice. (I know, that doesn’t sound very relaxed, but they’re all hockey players!) Although it was beautiful out for the end of March in Maryland, Katie and Aaron decided to hold their ceremony inside, but afterwards we did get outside to do some fun portraits of the two of them, their families, and bridal party. The reception was great, with a boisterous cocktail hour while Katie and Aaron spent some quality alone time together before their introductions, toasts, and first dance. Once the crowd got going, the dancing really took off. Don’t ask me about the swimming goggles, I really don’t know! Take a look at the slideshow below, and enjoy Katie and Aaron’s ’song’ - gotta love a couple that picks a Jimmi Hendrix as ‘their song’. Katie and Aaron's slideshow
